Current population information is not easily attainable.

We do know there are 208 residential properties in the Village in 2018.  However, many of these are second homes or holiday cottages.  The official census of 2001 captures 210 people in Kippford.  This will of course include any visitors on the day of the census.

The 2017 electoral register has 275 in Kippford registered to vote.

Early Records

The earliest official census for Scotland was taken in 1841, recording the number of people in the village on the evening of the 6th of June.

78 People are listed.  36 Male and 42 Female.  Interestingly, of the males listed only 16 are adults.  One could draw many conclusions from this; perhaps the adult males were away at sea.
