The full lengths of the 1.8m and 1.2m paths have been excavated and laid with sub-base. Several culverts have been dug to direct the run-off of surface water and have been severely tested during the downpours of the past few days.

On Friday, a length of sub-base on the 1.2m path was washed away by excess surface water and will need to be reinstated, perhaps with the addition of a culvert and drain to cope with future downpours.

The paths will eventually be surfaced with a layer of granite dust. This will be not be done until all other construction work is completed.

Next week will see the creation of the lower pedestrian entrance and preparation of seating areas ahead of the installation of benches (Anyone wanting to sponsor a bench should notify a committee member).

The final job carried out last week was the excavation of the small pond adjacent to the 1.8m path. It is already full of water, and worth a look if you have time.
